UniGe

University of Genova (UniGe) has a leading role in research; innovation and technology transfer both at national and international level. It comprises of 46 Departments, 21 Research Centres and 14 Interuniversity Research Centres.

The Department of Communication, Computer and System Sciences (DIST) of UniGe was born in 1984. At present DIST have about fifty members and a yearly financial statement of over three million Euros, one of the highest in the University of Genova. DIST's research and educational fields are Control Systems, Bio-engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Operative Research and Telecommunications.

The Nanobiotechnology and Medical Informatics Laboratory – belonging to DIST and directly involved in the LANIR Project –has a strong background in bioengineering and nanobioscience both from an experimental and from a computer modelling point of view. Within the LANIR project UniGe will be actively participating in the design and development of specific applications for the optimization of IR Nanoscopy.
